These terms are the agreement between you and arabically ("we", "us"), based in the Netherlands, for the use of the arabically app and website. By creating an account you accept these terms and our privacy policy. Please read them carefully.
Your account
You need an account to use arabically. You must be at least 16 years old, or at least 13 with permission from a parent or guardian.
Give correct details and keep your login to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, change your password or email us.
Subscriptions and free trial
arabically is a paid app. You need an active subscription or free trial to use its learning features. There are two plans:
- Yearly: €49.99 per year. It starts with a free trial of 7 days if you are eligible.
- Monthly: €9.99 per month, without a free trial.
Prices include VAT where it applies. The App Store and Google Play may show a different price in your country and currency; the price shown before you confirm your purchase is the one that applies.
How you pay. You buy and manage subscriptions through your Apple ID or Google Play account. Payment is charged to that account when you confirm the purchase, or when your free trial ends.
Automatic renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or through arabically › Settings › Manage subscription. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Free trial. The free trial is available once per Apple ID or Google account; Apple or Google decide whether you are eligible. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you are not charged. If you don't cancel, the yearly subscription starts and is charged when the trial ends.
Price changes. If the price of your plan changes, Apple or Google will tell you in advance, and where required ask for your consent. You can always cancel before the new price applies.
Refunds. Payments are processed by Apple or Google, so refunds are handled by them under their rules (reportaproblem.apple.com, or the Google Play refund page). Your statutory rights as a consumer in the EU are not affected.
When your subscription ends. You keep your account and data and can still sign in, sign out or delete your account, but the learning features are locked until you subscribe again.
Fair use
Plans include generous monthly limits on imported videos and created shorts, shown in the app. They keep the service fast and affordable for everyone. Automated, bulk or commercial use of arabically is not allowed.
Videos from YouTube
arabically lets you choose part of a YouTube video to learn from. The video is always played by YouTube's official player and stays on YouTube; arabically does not download, store or host it. Your use of YouTube content is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service (youtube.com/t/terms). The video's title and channel are shown with every short, and YouTube's player links back to the original video.
Only import videos you are allowed to watch, and only share them with friends. If a video is removed or made unavailable on YouTube, it also stops playing in arabically.
Translations and explanations
Transcripts, translations, vowel marks, transliterations and word explanations are created automatically with AI. They are usually right but can contain mistakes. Use them as a learning aid, not as an authoritative source, for example for religious texts.
Acceptable use
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You can report clips and people from the app and block anyone. We review reports within 24 hours and remove content or accounts that break these rules.
Don't use arabically to:
- harass, threaten or impersonate others;
- share content that is illegal, hateful or sexual, or that you have no right to share;
- break, overload or reverse engineer the service, or get around its limits or payments.
We may remove content, limit features or suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Where reasonable we warn you first and tell you why.
Your content and ours
What you create (titles, lists, saved words) stays yours. You give us permission to store it, process it and show it to you and to the friends you share it with, only to run the service.
The arabically app, its design, name, logo and the clips, translations and explanations we provide belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your own learning while your account is active.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep arabically available and correct, but we can't promise it will always be free of errors or interruptions. We may improve and change features. If we stop the service, we tell you at least 30 days in advance.
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using arabically and delete your account.
Liability
We provide arabically "as is". As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, or for content from third parties such as YouTube. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for arabically in the 12 months before the damage occurred. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence.
Ending
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription; cancel it with Apple or Google as well.
App Store and Google Play
If you downloaded arabically from the App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims. We are responsible for these as set out in these terms.
- You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
If you downloaded arabically from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your purchase.
Law and disputes
Dutch law applies. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of that country. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the law gives you the right to go to a court where you live.
